Tmux already has the concept of modes, and key mappings for those modes via `bind-key -t`. It would be great if users could make arbitrary modes, which would let us create multiple keystroke bindings.
This was worked on [here](http://sourceforge.net/p/tmux/mailman/message/32331408/), though as there is no ticket for it and no activity I think it may have gotten lost.
